Diabetes Prevention Program

At risk for diabetes?
The Diabetes Prevention Program can teach you healthier habits that may reduce your risk.

Small changes, big benefits
Specially trained lifestyle coaches work in small group settings to help people learn to eat healthier, boost activity levels, and lose a modest amount of weight.

Over the course of the 16-session program, you'll discover:

  • How to eat better
  • How to read food labels for better nutrition
  • How to reap big health benefits from modest increases in activity
  • How to avoid slipping back into old habits
  • How to stay motivated
  • How to stop stress in its tracks

The goal?
To lower your chances of ever getting diabetes - or delay the onset of the disease for years.

The results?
Research funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that the lifestyle changes taught in the course, including healthier eating and increased activity levels, may improve one's chances of avoiding or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes by 58 percent.
