Genetic Testing Pilot Program
The Franklin County Cooperative is excited to offer myGeneticScreen, a new genetic testing program in collaboration with Let's Get Checked and UnitedHealthcare. This pilot program empowers members to take charge of their health through at-home genetic screening at no cost.
What is myGeneticScreen?
myGeneticScreen focuses on three inherited conditions: hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, Lynch syndrome, and familial hypercholesterolemia. Early detection of these conditions can help you take preventive measures and work with your healthcare provider to reduce the severity or even prevent these diseases.
Who Should Consider Testing?
myGeneticScreen is available to enrolled employees, spouses/domestic partners, and children 18 and older. This test is designed for individuals at average risk without a significant personal or family history of these conditions. If you have a high-risk background, your healthcare provider may recommend more comprehensive testing. Pre-test counseling is available to help you determine if this test is right for you.
The Simple, At-Home Process
From ordering your kit online to receiving your results, the myGeneticScreen experience is easy and efficient. Once registered on the Let's Get Checked platform, you’ll receive your test kit, collect your sample at home with a simple do-it-yourself cheek swab, and ship it back to the lab. Results are available within 15-20 business days, with access to genetic counseling to help you understand your results.
